Frequently Asked Questions
1. How many therapy sessions are needed?
Until a client has had an assessment it is not possible to predict the number of sessions needed. However, CBT is time-limited and typically a course of therapy is between 6 to 20 sessions. If a problem is long-standing, therapy is likely to take longer.
2. How often are therapy sessions held?
Sessions are usually weekly until progress is made. The frequency then reduces until the end of therapy. On discharge, follow-up appointments are arranged to help consolidate the changes that have been made.
3. How long is a therapy session?
Each individual therapy session is 50 minutes long.
4. Is everything confidential?
Confidentiality will be maintained at all times. CBT CONSULTATIONS will not disclose any details to a third party unless it is thought that there is a risk to an individual or to others. Under these circumstances, therapists reserve the right to inform the appropriate external agencies. However, any disclosure will be discussed with the client beforehand.
In accordance with Professional and Ethical Codes of Conduct, all therapists at CBT CONSULTATIONS receive clinical supervision in which their practice is discussed with their clinical supervisor. This is also confidential as all supervisors are bound by the same Codes of Conduct.
5. How much does therapy, training or supervision cost?
