Our Supervision Ethos
“Supervision is a means of transmitting skills, knowledge and attitudes of a particular profession to the next generation in that profession. It also is an essential means of ensuring that clients receive a minimum quality of care while trainee’s work with them to gain their skills” [Bernard and Goodyear, 1991].
CBT CONSULTATIONS advocates a developmental model of supervision with the objective being to continuously identify new areas of growth in a life-long learning process.
The supervisory process is based upon Roth and Pilling's [2007] 'Competency Framework for the Supervision of Psychological Therapies' and is mapped onto the clinical competencies required to deliver cognitive behavioural therapy for people with depression and anxiety disorders.
Supervision is offered through various modalities; either individually at our practice in Crewe, by telephone, email or via Skype.
In accordance with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies guidelines, both accredited therapists and those wishing to apply for accreditation, will be requested to submit video evidence of their clinical practice on a regular basis.
A written contract is agreed, signed and reviewed at 6 monthly intervals.
